Q & A

QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE

A:   While there are multiple, some very subtly nuanced, differences between psychologists and psychiatrists, the one that generally has the most significant impact on the average patient's decision-making is that psychiatrists can prescribe medication, whereas psychologists cannot.  Additionally, some psychiatrists focus primarily on medication management, leaving psychotherapy to a psychologist or other therapist.  Robert Schulte, MD, approaches each client's therapy course individually based on specific needs.  While he does enjoy working with clients in psychotherapy, he also believes in collaboration with psychologists and other mental health professionals to maximize the benefit to his clients.  He sees both psychotherapy and med-management-only clients on a relatively equal basis.

A: Not necessarily, although this may, for some people be the case.

A:  This depends entirely on the individual. Some clients will find that they require intensive, ongoing psychotherapy instead of or in addition to medication, whereas others may have a resolution of symptoms within one visit and proper medication.

A:  If your current regiment is working for you and Dr. Schulte sees no contra-indications to staying the course, he will let you know. but the only truly accurate way for him to make that assessment will be an intake evaluation wherein Dr. Schulte has an opportunity to meet you, review your medical history, and " get yp to speed" on your current situation.

A:  Generally, no. Occasionally, one of our clients will become disabled, and we will need to fill out paperwork for FMLA or SSD in conjunction with that onset of disability, but this is not common. Moreover, Dr. Schulte, prefers to devote his time to working with patients in his clinical practice. We can refer you to a psychologist or neuropsychologist who can perform appropriate testing.

A:  As we no longer have a physical location for our patients to visit, we use a telemedicine platform for our clients to use for every appointment. Feel free to explore how it works by visiting the underlined link below:

WHAT TO EXPECT

REFERRAL, INTAKE, AND PAYMENT POLICY

To ensure the highest level of personalized care, all prospective patients must either have a referral or receive prior written approval from Dr. Schulte’s office before beginning the intake process.

**Appointments cannot be scheduled without both (1) a referral or formal approval from Dr. Schulte’s office and (2) a completed New Patient Intake Form. All intake materials must be reviewed and accepted by our clinical staff before an appointment may be confirmed**

PAYMENT POLICY

Payment for services is due at the time of your appointment. We accept all major credit cards and personal checks. If a third party (such as a family member, trust, or an organization) will be covering your session fees, please inform our staff in advance so arrangements can be made.

Although Dr. Schulte is an out-of-network provider, we will furnish a detailed Superbill following each session. This includes the appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes required for reimbursement. If your insurance plan covers out-of-network services, you may be eligible for partial reimbursement by submitting this documentation to your provider.

**Please note:  Our services are not reimbursable by Medicare, as Dr. Schulte has formally opted out of the Medicare program.**

We strongly encourage you to contact the phone number on the back of your insurance card to determine your plan’s out-of-network coverage. If needed, our staff is happy to coordinate with your insurer to support proper claim processing.

PERSCRIPTION COVERAGE AND DISCOUNTS

Not all insurance providers cover the advised medication(s) prescribed during treatment. To help reduce out-of-pocket costs, we encourage patients to explore prescription discounts through GoodRx’s Prescription Savings Program.
